Lausanne Lumières 2018 is plugged in

For the seventh time, the Lausanne Lumières Festival shows the town under a new light, but by night. We’re taking you on a guided tour of the most beautiful works of this edition. Let there be light!

Dancing in the wind

The TL building has seen strange plants grow on its green roof: green lights in sheaths that move in rhythm with the wind. A work to be admired as you move gracefully in time with it. What’s more, it will keep you warm.

Admiring enlightened quotes: Words

Words are taking over the town. “LOVE ME TENDER”, these few love letters are deposited on the eaves of a building in the Rue Centrale. Another one, on the Portes Saint-François, reads “LA NUIT JE MENS” (“BY NIGHT, I TELL LIES”). Works that blend art and reflexion. What’s your interpretation?

Replaying classical love songs

Love, it’s always about love… And the giant red heart that has appeared in the town centre to confirm this doesn’t go unnoticed. Not only is it visually impressive, it also produces sound. By pressing a buzzer set up on the Place Pépinet, you’ll launch a playlist of love songs. After that, you might catch yourself whistling Love me tender on your way home.

To see the light looping the loop

Under the Grand Pont’s arches, there is an illuminated alcove with a looped soundtrack that offers one of the most immersive installations of Lausanne Lumières 2018. A highly effective result to illustrate the link between a work and its environment.

Swinging on light

Once again, this year, families will be able to make merry on the illuminated swings of the Place de la Louve. A perfect activity to digest your Christmas market fondue :-).

#LausanneLumieres17

Highlighting (or when light rules)

A practical object, but in an oversized version in the heart of town? This year, the Lausanne Lumières Festival has decided to set up a giant, flamboyant yellow carpenter’s ruler.

A playful and original installation that is quite striking.

Taking off towards a glorious end of the year

When crossing the Bessières Bridge, you can’t miss Envol (Taking Flight), that large white bird that takes flight towards the Cathedral. A symbol a freedom? Of peace? Something else? The bird’s 3D structure allows everyone to make up their own mind, according to their viewing angle.
