Five cafés for a cosy autumn

By My-Lausanne

The time has come for warm knitted sweaters, itchy turtleneck jumpers, pumpkin spice drinks and evenings on the sofa snuggled under a plaid watching Netflix. And yet autumn weather is no excuse to stay at home! It’s an opportunity to meet up with friends in one of the cosy places in town we have selected for you.

Le MAD Café

When we talk about the MAD, cosy and café are definitely not the first words that spring to mind. However, in the same building as the famous nightclub is an attractive café with a terrace at the heart of the Flon district and a lounge on the first floor. That’s actually where we suggest you go for its comfy armchairs and nice view on the square. Watching people go by while staying warm and snug, we love it!

Le Café Mood

Whether to work for a while in a quiet spot, drink coffee, have lunch or an evening drink, Café Mood suits all moods. Being in this café feels a bit like being at home. The carefully designed décor gives the place lots of charm.

Coccinelle Café

In the centre of Lausanne, the “Coccinelle” (i.e. the Ladybird) has its regulars. This café is one of those places that seems to have always been there and where we feel at ease. In the bar’s display, home-made cakes will make your mouth water and are impossible to resist with a chai or matcha latte.

Le Café des Avenues

With its lounge area, board games and relaxed atmosphere, the Café des Avenues is a safe bet in Lausanne. In the back of the café / restaurant is a vintage sofa that we love to sink into while sipping delicious home-made iced tea. We chat, we banter and we challenge our friends to different games to see who will foot the bill.

Le Perroquet Bar & Cocina

The Perroquet is certainly the kitschiest bar in town, and we love it! With its old sofas, retro-style lamps and gaudy wallpaper, you’d think you were in your nan Germaine’s sitting room. This very colourful place creates a warm atmosphere when it’s grey outdoors.
